BU declares degrees of two parliamentarians as fake

Balochistan University declared the degrees of Deputy Speaker Balochistan Assembly Syed Matiullah Agha and FATA MNA Jawad Hussain as fake on Monday.

The Higher Education Commission had sent 58 degrees of parliamentarians to the university for authentication.

Earlier in the day Karachi University (KU) completed the verification of 106 degrees of parliamentarians on Monday, where it was revealed that three degrees could not be verified.

Pro-vice chancellor of KU confirmed that three degrees, including those of Yaqoob Bazinjo and Jamil Malik could not be verified. The chancellor added that the degree of Senator Faisal Raza Abidi was not sent to the university to be verified. Read more of this post

Fake degrees: 13 and counting

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission on Friday received objections on degrees of multiple senators and members of national and provincial assemblies.

The list of 13 fake degree holding parliamentarians now stands as follows:

1. PML-N MNA Syed Muhammad Salman Mohsin Gillani

2. PPP MPA Waseem Afzal Gondal

3. PML-Q MPA Samina Khawar Hayat

4. Senator Nawabzada Muhammad Akbar Magsi

Govt, opposition agree on cut motions for eight ministries

ISLAMABAD: The opposition has agreed with the government to move cut motions about just eight ministries when demands will be put before the National Assembly for vote later this month, Dawn has learnt.

Talking to this correspondent here on Sunday, a number of opposition members, however, justified the act, saying that it was a parliamentary tradition to reach an understanding with the government as it was not possible to discuss grants of each and every ministry or division on the floor of the National Assembly in such a short span of time. Protestors condemn Israel

ISLAMABAD: The pre-dawn Israeli attack on a flotilla which left more than 20 civilians dead brought hundreds of demonstrators to the streets in the federal capital on Monday.

Around 1,000 protestors, including journalists, traders, students, parliamentarians and religious leaders, demanded that Israel be
held accountable for its actions.

“What do you expect from a state that even the United States fears and can’t do anything to stop them except use empty diplomatic threats?” Mavi Memon, MNA from PML-Q said. Read more of this post
