Eclipse fever hits Pakistan

KARACHI: Karachi’s Universe Cineplex was flocked with teenagers – currently on summer vacation – to see the first show of Eclipse on Friday afternoon.

Cineplex’s lobby was packed with girls eager to get their hands on coveted tickets to the third film in The Twilight Saga, which stars actors Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

Hamna Ali Khan, at Cineplex with a bunch of girlfriends said, “I’m a big Twilight fan. I have seen Twilight around 15 or 16 times and I saw New Moon a couple of times. I hope this one is going to be the best.”

Mahnoor Shah was accompanied by a family member and her best friend. When asked what attracted her to The Twilight Saga, she said, “The characters. The story. Everything!” Read more of this post

Punjab Govt withdraws Nikah nama notification

The Punjab Government on Friday decided to withdraw the notification regarding the amendments to be made to the Nikah nama law.

The withdrawal comes after objections from the provincial Law and Home department. The objection questions the approval of the amendments without consultation of the said departments.

According to Express 24/7 Reporter Rabia Mehmood, the law department will now ask the Local Government and Community Development on how the notification was issued without approval, and will work with the department on the amendments. Fake degrees: 13 and counting

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission on Friday received objections on degrees of multiple senators and members of national and provincial assemblies.

The list of 13 fake degree holding parliamentarians now stands as follows:

1. PML-N MNA Syed Muhammad Salman Mohsin Gillani

2. PPP MPA Waseem Afzal Gondal

3. PML-Q MPA Samina Khawar Hayat

4. Senator Nawabzada Muhammad Akbar Magsi
